ABOUT THE ARTIST & PAINTINGS
Being fascinated with the arts since a young age, Chris followed his instincts and completed his education in art and art history, focusing on both photography and painting. In 2003 he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with high honors and distinguished exhibition from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada and immediately set upon a dedicated and prolific studio practice. Using the universal language of familiar objects and an approachable aesthetic in his work, he has sold several hundred paintings in only a few short years to collectors across the United States, Europe and Canada. Chris’ work can almost be considered object portraiture, situating his subjects in neutral tones and emphasizing the light across the subjects which include things like vintage books, chairs, clocks and luggage creating a still moment in time and space. His paintings have simple yet graphical and bold compositions that emphasize the basic shapes of the objects, heightening them to almost iconic symbols open to interpretation by the viewer. Taking his cues from various eras of art including the interiors of Vermeer, the still life of Chardin to the realism of Thiebaud, Chris is determined to continue studying his subjects, perfecting his technique and enjoying every minute that passes. Chris wrote this bio in the third person. That feels weird. He resides in a small but beautiful city virtually hidden in the vast plains of the Canadian prairies. He works in an in-house studio with his wife and two young children. ![]() |
